Abstract

This thesis explores the current statutory obligation on a specialist group of police officers known as management of sexual and violent offenders (MOSOVO) under the criminal justice act 2003. The statutory obligation affords MOSOVO the authority to risk assess and manage those persons known as registered sex offenders whom reside in the community. Part of this risk assessment allows MOSOVO to conduct the assessment in the offenders home. This thesis explores how MOSOVO are trained to carry out this risk assessment, their views of the risk assessment and makes recommendations for improvement.
