Abstract
This chapter examines tourism activities, programs, and policy developments within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) during the COVID-19 pandemic. It highlights the key challenges experienced by the tourism sector, including global economic disruptions, social impacts, and the need for a sustainable and inclusive recovery. The chapter also evaluates the contributions of institutions such as the Asian Development Bank and the UNWTO in promoting sustainability-based recovery initiatives. Further, it explores the concept of inclusive tourism by emphasizing multisectoral interdependencies between tourism, infrastructure, and employment generation. The chapter concludes by identifying strategies that can enhance the resilience and effectiveness of ASEAN tourism in the postpandemic era.
