Abstract

Purpose
Sustainable models of funding and resourcing Nature Based Social Prescribing (NbSP) are critical for delivery yet are rarely implemented, causing negative consequences for community organisations delivering NbSP interventions. This ethically approved case study coproduced with community organisations, academics and experts in the field, explores the “infinity model” for sustainable funding and resources NbSP with an interdisciplinary lens.

Design/methodology/approach
This paper offers a case study connecting existing literature on NbSP and suggests the infinity model to illustrate the challenges faced by community organisations in obtaining funding and resourcing NbSP.

Findings
The “infinity model” offers connections between stakeholders perspectives and contemporary literature thus illustrating what has helped and what needs to happen to work toward sustainable funding and resourcing of NbSP.

Research limitations/implications
Future research is required to develop the infinity model and build a framework with theoretical underpinnings to support sustainable NbSP for all.

Originality/value
This “infinity model” and stakeholder perspectives have not been published in this way before. Connecting the funding and resource landscape of NbSP to a clear pictorial image and explanation may support future community organisations in exploring what they are missing on the pursuit of sustainable NbSP.
