Abstract
In this chapter, we introduce the aims and unique structure of this book, followed by a brief and accessible orientation to several distinctive principles and practices of the field of community psychology. We provide a short overview of each part highlighting key possible points of learning for readers. We clarify our collective values to show how these have informed the collaborative and imperfect process of developing this book. Finally, we welcome both the new and the experienced, the curious and the established, to move with us as we strive towards an expansive and hopeful vision of social justice and well-being in challenging times.
