Dr Brandon Reece Taylorian is a Research Fellow at the University of Lancashire leading the 2026 project Heritage and History in Practice: Enhancing Research Culture through Co-production and Public Participation. Brandon previously taught on the Religion, Culture and Society programme as an Associate Lecturer and in 2023 worked as an Associate Lecturer at Lancaster University teaching the history of human rights and public law. Brandon completed his PhD in 2025 specialising in recognition and registration issues impacting conditions of religious freedom, especially for new religious movements and minority religions. Brandon's other research interests include early Quakerism and Mormonism in England, the history of the Society of Saint Pius X, antique photographs, as well as education and social issues in the Victorian period. Working as a Research Associate under Professor Candice Satchwell in 2025, Brandon hosted focus groups, conducted analysis and developed a project report for a research project commissioned by the Department for Transport called Barriers to Rail Travel and Careers in the Rail Industry for Diverse Communities in Lancashire. Brandon continues to work with Professor Satchwell on the project Lancaster and Morecambe: Who Are We? Brandon has presented his research at higher education institutions in the UK and abroad, including at Durham University as well as at conferences held in Cape Town, Brigham Young University and Bordeaux Montaigne University. Brandon works closely with the International Center for Law and Religion Studies based in Provo, Utah, on various religious freedom issues and after completing the Young Scholars Fellowship on Religion and the Rule of Law at Oxford in 2024, Brandon was invited back to Oxford as a guest lecturer on registration issues for the 2025 cohort.
