I have worked in the animation industry for over 30 years in a variety of roles. I wrote and directed Crapston Villas for Channel 4 which won various awards including Independent TV's best newcomer, and San Francisco Film Festival best animation. I also voice Miss Rabbit in Peppa Pig as well as Nanny Plum in Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom. My primary research looks at the role of women in the British animation industry and the effect this has on commissioned content. In 2019 I produced and wrote a short documentary 'British Women Breaking The Mold' about the lack of women in Key creative roles within the British Animation industry. This was screened internationally at various festivals as well as on a Sky Channel. Interest in this documentary grew and resulted in a commission with

Interest in this documentary grew and resulted in a commission with the BFI to create a series featuring strong, realistic female characters called Ruby Tuesday. Other areas of research include cultural memory and perspectives on history where women haven't been included. This has led to a project about the Preston Lockouts inspired by a series of illustrations found in the Lancashire Archives. The drawings created in 1853 featured women and gave an insight to their treatment by the dominant hegenomy at the time in relation to this dispute. I have been a senior lecturer at UCLan for 17 years.
